SO nigh is grandeur to our dust,
So near is God to man,
When Duty whispers low, Thou must,
The youth replies, I can.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
THERE is much difference between temptation and leading into error. God tempts, but He leads not into error. To tempt is to present occasions which impose no necessity; if we love not God we shall do a certain thing. To lead into error, is to place a man in a necessity of forming and following false conclusion.
KEEP as far from all occasions of thy passions as other duties will allow thee; and contrive thy affairs and occasions into as great an opposition as may be to the temptation.
IT is lawful to pray God that we be not led into temptation; but not lawful to skulk from those that come to us.
Robert Louis Stevenson
HE that would be little in temptation, let him be much in prayer.
