THANKS to the human heart, by which we live
Thanks to its tenderness, its joys, and fears,
To me the meanest flower that blows can give
Thoughts that do often lie too deep for tears.
William Wordsworth

IT is not what you have in your hand, but what you find in what you have, that determines your real wealth; and what you shall find in it will be determined by what you are. Two men go forth into the same morning sunshine, visit the same historic scenes, have the same great thoughts uttered in their hearing; but how different may be the yield to the two of the same experience; and the spirit of quiet, patient fidelity possesses more in what is gathered than the opposite spirit. We are often too coarsely heated in our seeking to enjoy the daintiest flavour of our gains.
Samuel A. Tipple

IT is not the number of books you read; nor the variety of sermons which you hear; nor the amount of religious conversation in which you mix: but it is the frequency and the earnestness with which you meditate on these things, till the truth which may be in them becomes your own, and part of your own being, that ensures your spiritual growth.
Frederick W. Robertson
